About this event

The West Coast Contact Improvisation JAM (wcciJAM) is an annual 5-day gathering organized by and for the SF Bay Area Contact Improvisation community. The 2026 theme is "Longevity of Practice". The program includes morning intensives, single afternoon and evening classes, special jams, and community events. The 2026 intensive is led by Karen Nelson and mayfield (co-teachers), with Petra Kuppers offering an additional intensive. A wide roster of local and visiting teachers offer single-session classes throughout the week. Special programming includes a BIPOC Only Jam (Karin Moriarty), a Water Contact Jam (Kriss Rulifson), Performance Scores (Rebecca Bryant), and The Underscore (Oka Ver). Family programming and housing assistance are available. The event is held at Berkeley Finnish Hall — a large dance hall with cafeteria and all-gender restrooms, a 10-minute walk from North Berkeley BART and directly on the 51 Bus Line.
