Weidong Yang
About
Weidong Yang is co-founder and director of Kinetech Arts, exploring the intersection of dance, science, and technology together with Daiane Lopes da Silva. He holds a PhD in Physics and a Master's in Computer Science from the University of Oregon, was a postdoctoral fellow at UC Berkeley researching quantum dots, and founded Kineviz, building visual analytics solutions for complex data. As a performer he has danced with KUNST-STOFF, Paco Gomes, and Sara Shelton Mann, and was a Scientific Delirium Madness resident artist at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program in 2017. He and Daiane ("Dai & Wei") have practiced Tai Chi together for over a decade and teach Contact Improvisation at ODC Dance Commons in San Francisco, guiding participants into mind-body calibration through deep listening, full-body awareness, and attunement with oneself and others.
