A dance and movement arts center in the Córdoba mountains (Punilla range), dedicated to Contact Improvisation — workshops, residential seminars, practice sessions and regular classes. Features a floating-structure practice studio with wooden flooring overlooking the mountains, plus on-site accommodation for visiting participants.

Innsbruck, Austria
Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen is an international artists-in-residence programme in Innsbruck, Austria, set in a historic building in the wooded hills north of the city. The venue provides studio space, rehearsal halls, and outdoor areas, and hosts the annual Solo & CI Tirol Festival alongside other contemporary performance and visual art residencies.

Lasqueti Island, Canada
Leviathan Studio provides the ultimate environment to study and train in Contact Improvisation. The studio was designed for Contact Improvisation. The floor is suspended on car tires for soft landings. The food is plentiful, high quality, high in protein, both veg and non-veg. The workshop format of 12days allows for learning, assimilation and practice. The evening sauna unwinds tension before bed. Situated at the top of hill on an island, off-grid, no wifi distractions, no sirens, no traffic…it is ideal.

Salt Spring Island, Canada
An off-grid 40-acre exploratorium on Salt Spring Island, BC — on the unceded traditional territories of the Hul'Q'Umi'Num and Sencoten speaking peoples. Set on a logging road 20 minutes from the highway, 25 minutes from Fulford Ferry terminal and 40 minutes from Ganges. Features a large indoor dance space, expansive camping grounds (car camping available), showers, compostable toilets, glamping tents, and a geodesic dome. Spirit Lake and the ocean are a short drive away. Founded by Selena La Brooy as 'a land of living inquiry' hosting multi-day somatic and creative research retreats. Home of the Salt Spring Island CI Festival.

Berlin, Germany
Eden Studios is part of DOCK 11, one of Berlin's leading independent dance and performance houses. Situated at Breite Strasse 43 in the Weißensee district (13187 Berlin), the complex spans 3,230 m² across five studios (the largest: 265 m² with 5 m ceiling height), two villas, and a garden — opened in 2009 as DOCK 11's expansion site. It offers rehearsal space, a dance school with around 90 weekly classes, a café, festival programming, and regularly hosts Contact Improvisation workshops.

Stuttgart, Germany
IDOGOHAUS is a movement and martial arts centre in Stuttgart-Süd, housed in a historic 100-year-old building. Operated by the Tjoa family since 1990, it offers nearly 600 sqm of studio space across four rooms. The house hosts Tai Chi, Qi Gong, yoga, and creative dance, and is the permanent home of the annual Contact Impro Festival Stuttgart and regular CI jams.

Kreßberg, Germany
Schloss Tempelhof is an intentional community and ecovillage in Kreßberg, Baden-Württemberg, about 10 km east of Crailsheim. Home to around 130 residents, the community includes a seminar house, community-supported agriculture, school, café, guesthouse, and open outdoor spaces. It is a member of the Global Ecovillage Network and regularly hosts festivals, retreats, and movement events including the annual TanzTageTempelhof Contact Improvisation festival.

Freiburg, Germany
Studio Pro Arte is a center for dance and culture that welcomes people from Baden-Württemberg, the tri-border region, and around the world. With a broad range of artistic activities centered on contemporary and urban dance, interdisciplinary projects, productions, residencies, courses, training formats, festivals, and networking activities, Studio Pro Arte offers a diverse experience for people of all ages. Berlin, Germany
Top-floor studio space in the historic Kunstquartier Bethanien, Mariannenplatz, Berlin-Kreuzberg. STUDIO2 is a large, bright studio with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the park — a popular venue for Contact Improvisation jams and workshops in Berlin.

Wolfach, Germany
Naturfreundehaus Sommerecke is a residential retreat centre in the Black Forest near Wolfach, Baden-Württemberg — run by Initiative Tänzerdorf e.V., a community founded around Contact Improvisation and meditation as pillars of shared living. Set in nature with forest surroundings, the space hosts CI workshops, jams, and retreat gatherings throughout the year. The Begegnungsstätte Tänzerdorf is the community's vision of a permanent dance-and-meditation village in the Schwarzwald.

Lohsdorf, Germany
Tanzgut is a historic farmhouse at Oberdorfstr. 15 in Lohsdorf, Saxon Switzerland, Saxony. The centrepiece is a large ballroom with a wooden floor, high ceilings, and big windows overlooking the garden. Indoor sleeping is available for around 15 people in a communal room, with additional camping on the grounds. A regular host for Contact Improvisation gatherings and other dance and music events.

Hamburg, Germany
Triade is a dance and performance studio in Hamburg's Altona district, with a bright wood-floored hall under a skylight roof. It hosts a weekly Sunday Contact Improvisation jam, monthly Friday jams with live music, and regular CI classes and workshops, alongside other contemporary dance and movement programming.

Dresden, Germany
Villa Wigman is a heritage-protected ensemble at Bautzner Straße 107 in Dresden's Radeberger Vorstadt, comprising an 1856 mansion and a 1927 expressionist dance-hall extension. Mary Wigman ran her internationally influential modern dance school here from 1920 to 1942. Today the nonprofit Villa Wigman für Tanz e.V. operates it as a production venue for the independent performing arts scene, with one large and two smaller rehearsal rooms available for hire.

Llanes, Spain
Rural retreat space near Llanes, Asturias, in northern Spain — surrounded by mountains, forests, meadows, and the ocean. Features a 120 m² wooden dance floor, wooden houses, yurt, shelters, and a camping area with sauna and shared facilities. Host of the annual Dive into the Dance CI gathering.

Garganta la Olla, Spain
A bright, forest-surrounded home in Garganta la Olla (La Vera, Cáceres, Extremadura), cared for and inhabited by Carmen Alcalde since 2017. Hosts weekly Contact Improvisation classes, workshops, artistic residencies, and therapeutic accompaniment, including the annual Enramando retreat.

Hauteville-Lompnes, France
Boost Center is a European sports training and retreat centre at 850–1230m altitude in the Haut-Bugey region of the Ain department, one hour from Geneva, Lyon, and Bourg-en-Bresse. The centre offers on-site accommodation and full board, and hosts the annual SphereS Contact Improvisation Festival among other sports and movement residencies.

Beech Hill is an eco/permaculture community in the Cheshire countryside near Northwich. It hosts residential retreats, workshops, and community gatherings in a land-based setting with camping and shared indoor spaces. The venue is the home base for the Togethering Contact Improvisation camp run by Common Body Collective.

London, United Kingdom
Goldsmiths, University of London hosts Contact Improvisation through its Department of Theatre and Performance. The space is large enough to accommodate both structured workshops and open social jams with live music. It has a notable CI history — it hosted CI50 in November 2022 (the global celebration of 50 years of Contact Improvisation) and serves as home to the annual London Contact Festival.

Flambruzzo, Italy
Gaia Terra is a sustainable ecovillage in Flambruzzo (Rivignano Teor), Province of Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The site features a dance studio, organic gardens, community kitchen, surrounding meadows, and a nearby river for swimming. It hosts CI retreats and movement residencies.

Amsterdam, Netherlands
A spacious, light, quiet multifunctional room of 110 m² located in De Hallen, Amsterdam, available for rent during the day and evening. Suited to meetings, presentations, workshops, theater, and dance rehearsals. Facilities include a sound system, floating dance floor, mirrors, electric piano, ballet barre, restroom, and shower. Accessible only via a spiral staircase, not suitable for people with mobility limitations.

Uffelte, Netherlands
De Uelenspieghel is a farm and nature campsite in Uffelte, Drenthe, set close to a lake and forest. Its large barn hall ("de Deel") and shala serve as the annual home of The Netherlands Contact Improvisation Festival, now in its 7th edition, alongside other retreats, workshops, and community gatherings.

Lublin region, Poland
Puszcza Kreatywna (Creative Wilderness) is a retreat and creative space in the countryside of eastern Poland, near Lublin, with meadows, forest, and a lake nearby. Accommodation includes shared bedrooms, dorms, and camping. On-site amenities include campfire, sauna, and jacuzzi. The space hosts Contact Improvisation retreats, creative residencies, and community gatherings.

Jedwabno, Poland
Studio Burdąg is a movement and retreat venue in the countryside near Jedwabno, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship — in the lake district of northeastern Poland. It hosts residential dance workshops and retreats with professional studio facilities, accommodation, and communal catering.

Tavira, Portugal
A multidisciplinary arts and movement retreat space set in secluded farmland among orange, olive, and nut trees beside the Ria Formosa nature reserve — Cabanas de Tavira, eastern Algarve. 5 minutes from Conceição train station, 10 minutes by car from Tavira; private access to the Ria Formosa and beach. Spaces include: the 200 m² main house (Monte Azul) sleeping up to 11 guests with shared dorm, three bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen and communal areas; a 100 m² flexible art studio; an 80 m² outdoor wooden dance floor under tree shade; a 0.3 ha camping area with vintage caravans, bell tent, and campervan hookup; and an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Santo Estevão, Portugal
Quinta Braz is a converted family farm near Santo Estevão on Portugal's Algarve coast, surrounded by olive, carob, and almond trees with sea views. Accommodation includes five private guest-house rooms, bell tents, and tent camping, with a pool area and dance floors. An established host of Contact Improvisation and somatic workshops, including the Portugal Contact Festival.

Sintra, Portugal
Quinta Ten Chi is a retreat and practice centre set at the foot of the forested Sintra mountains, on land stewarded since 1978 as a space for embodied arts and contemplative practice. The property features a wood-floored dojo for movement work alongside workshop and communal living spaces, all within Sintra's famously lush green micro-climate. Contact Improvisation is among the regular offerings, alongside 5Rhythms, Ecstatic Dance, Butoh, and somatic practices.

Palmela, Portugal
SerVivo is a retreat and event venue in Portugal's Arrábida Natural Park, run as a cooperative co-living community and offering dance classes (particularly Contact Improvisation), artistic workshops, meditation, and nature-based therapeutic practices. Day visitors, volunteers, and multi-day guests are welcomed alongside the resident team for structured classes and immersive community experiences.

Slavske, Ukraine
MC6 Creative Residence is a retreat and creative venue in Slavske, a small mountain town in the Carpathians, Lviv region of western Ukraine. The site combines a dedicated indoor dance and creative studio with accommodation ranging from tent camping to rooms in traditional houses. Easy mountain access and both indoor and outdoor spaces make it a regular host for Contact Improvisation gatherings.

Detroit, United States
Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat and Conference Center is a worker-owned cooperative retreat center built around natural hot springs in the Cascade mountains of Oregon. Since 1981 it has hosted the annual Breitenbush Contact Improvisation Jam, one of the oldest continuously running CI jams in the world.

Rutherfordton, United States
Dreaming Stone Arts and Ecology Center is a dedicated home for Contact Improvisation in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Rutherford County, NC. Founded by dancer, performance artist, and activist Tevyn East, the center features a large round studio with windows on all sides, beautiful common areas, and stewards 50+ acres of land including a swimmable river — joining institutions like Earthdance and The Field Center as a residential CI destination. Year-round programming supports both the CI community and local cultural and environmental movements.

Plainfield, United States
Earthdance is an arts, dance, & movement organization and retreat center in Western Massachusetts, on unceded, ancestral Nipmuck, Pocumtuc and Wabanaki Confederacy Land. Earthdance welcomes guests from around the world to engage in events that center movement and embodied practice, Contact Improvisation, and collaborative art making.
