About the venue

Arlequi occupies Mas Llapart, a 17th-century farmhouse about 3 km from Banyoles in Catalonia, set between fields, meadows and forest. Anna Borredà has organised dance and theatre courses here since 1981, making it one of the earliest homes of Contact Improvisation in Spain. Continuous CI summer intensives ran from 1984 onward with teachers including Bob Rease, Dieter Heitkamp, Howard Sonnenklar and, from 1995, Nancy Stark Smith, and the house hosted the first EMOCIE national gathering of Spanish CI teachers and organizers in 2010. The site has a dance studio, two courtyards, a large yard and a meadow.
