Kan Yan

Kan Yan describes himself as a reluctant and occasional teacher of Contact Improv, without formal dance training but having attended numerous workshops over a decade. He previously hosted a jam in Austin, Texas, teaching classes to build a community of dance partners. His interests within Contact Improvisation include being surprised, the animistic imaginal, making sounds, being "handsy," and compositional approaches as a way to draw attention while others engage in duetting.
