About
Cheyenne "Amen" Dunbar is a multidisciplinary movement artist and coach holding a black belt in Kung Fu San Soo, with training in Taijiquan, Ba Gua, wrestling, boxing and professional Muay Thai; he is a Capoeira Angola A-kuolua (trainer) and an Escrima y Machete practitioner (Afro-Colombian fencing). He began singing with the Brooklyn Boys' Choir at age 8 and is also a musician and dancer. After surviving a severe concussion at 27 he began a lifelong study of movement, discovering Contact Improvisation and becoming a sought-after teacher in the form. He has since developed the Primal Integrated Movement Practice, which takes principles from martial arts, dance and performance to explore each person's range of motion and build strength and mobility over time. His teaching centres community support around self-expression, self-protection and healthy living, which he frames as a human responsibility more than a lifestyle.
