Chris Aiken

About

Internationally recognized performer and teacher of dance improvisation and Contact Improvisation. His approach links poetic imagination with ecological engagement through perception, intention, and action -- integrating awareness of self, others, and the wider world. Has performed and collaborated with Angie Hauser, Kirstie Simson, Nancy Stark Smith, Peter Bingham, Andrew Harwood, Joerg Hassmann, Ray Chung, and Steve Paxton. Shaped by years of practice with the Alexander Technique, Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis, ideokinesis, yoga, and myofascial bodywork. MFA from the University of Illinois; Professor of Dance at Smith College.
