About

Cathie Caraker is a dance artist and educator who has worked in movement research, improvisation, and performance for over 35 years. A native of San Francisco, she moved to Amsterdam in the 1980s, graduating from the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) and later joining its faculty from 1995 to 2005. She holds an MFA in dance from Bennington College, is a Body-Mind Centering teacher and a Registered Somatic Movement Educator, and has worked extensively with Nancy Stark Smith, Steve Paxton, and Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. She has taught at wcciJAM, Movement Research, Omega Institute, Contact Festival Freiburg, Tanzfabrik Berlin, Barcelona Contact Festival, and Contredanse Brussels, among others.
