Oka Ver is a Contact Improvisation practitioner and facilitator who has spent over twenty years researching and performing the Underscore, the long-form CI structure created by Nancy Stark Smith. In recent years they have partnered with Jun Akiyama to bring decolonial and intersectional perspectives to the Underscore score, working to evolve the form toward an explicitly anti-racist framework, honoring both the integrity of Smith's original work and her commitment to rigorous inquiry, continuing this legacy following her death in 2020.
