Daiane Lopes da Silva
About
Daiane Lopes da Silva is a choreographer, educator, and co-director of Kinetech Arts, exploring the intersection of dance, science, and technology together with Weidong Yang. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, she trained at the Municipal Ballet of São Paulo and at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels (directed by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker), and holds a B.A. in Psychology from SFSU. Since 2013 she has created over 10 full-length performances shown across South America, Europe, and the US, with residencies including Headlands Center for the Arts, CounterPulse, and the Djerassi Resident Artists Program. She has performed with Companhia de Dança de Lisboa, Companhia de Dança de Almada, KUNST-STOFF Dance Company, Labayen Dance, little seismic dance company, Robert Moses' Kin, and in works by Sara Shelton Mann. She and Weidong ("Dai & Wei") have practiced Tai Chi together for over a decade and teach Contact Improvisation at ODC Dance Commons in San Francisco, having founded Kinetech Arts in 2013 to build bridges among diverse communities throughout the Bay Area. She is also faculty at Alonzo King LINES Dance Center and Western Ballet.
