Musician and dancer. For Taro, Contact Improvisation is a gift that allows for playfulness and following bodily impulses, listening to reflexes, and devoting oneself to improvisation in wonder. Plays many instruments — flutes, guitar, percussion, frame drum, djembe, didgeridoo, jaw harp, mouth bow — and builds instruments themselves, using vocal improvisation and loop/effects devices as further tools. Accompanying a CI jam differs from performing a concert: it requires sensing the dance field while dancing, and listening for when to let the dancers' sounds have space and when to underscore them.
