The 9th annual Salt Spring Island CI Festival — 10 days of dance at Rhizome Springs, an off-grid 40-acre property on Salt Spring Island, BC. Structure: approximately 49% jam, 49% classes, with performances, facilitated dialogues, authentic relating, and nature exploration. Daily schedule 8am to late evening. Intensive (3 hrs/day): Konstantinos Gerardos (GR) — 'A Moving Community Through Contact Improvisation', working with duet and trio dynamics, somatic tuning, technical CI skills (off-axis riding, spiral mechanics, lifts, safe falling), and group improvisation landscapes. Class teachers: Alicia Grayson (US), Ezra LeBank (US), Kathleen Rea (CA), Francesca Frewer (CA), Tasha Faye Evans (CA — Coast Salish), Eric Nordstrom (US), Leandro Alsina (AR), Amy Kingwill (US). Pre-festival workshop by Alicia Grayson; post-festival workshop by Kathleen Rea. Setting: Rhizome Springs — 20 min on logging road, 25 min from Fulford Ferry, 40 min from Ganges. Camping included; glamping tents and geodesic dome available at extra cost; rustic cabins at the adjacent Buddhist centre (book through Rhizome Springs). Showers and compostable toilets. Daily trips to Spirit Lake and the ocean. All meals included — sourced locally and organically, catered by chef Beatriz Ugalde. Part-time option: minimum 5 days.
