Ganesh Katara
Busan, India
About
Ganesh comes from a small village in Rajasthan, India, where he grew up surrounded by a landscape rich with natural life, developing an embodied sensitivity to movement as a fundamental force of life. In 2016 he began formal training in dance, starting with Bollywood and expanding into street forms such as locking, popping, krump, and hip-hop, alongside a more intuitive relationship with the body through improvisation — first guided by his contemporary dance teacher Rahul Goswami. Over the past decade he has trained, practiced, taught, and performed across India and internationally. He has developed a deep interest in Contact Improvisation as an evolutionary force of movement, questioning how bodies relate to one another, to gravity, and to the earth. Since mid-2025, Ganesh has been co-curating, organizing, and facilitating Contact Improvisation and improvisation-based projects, residencies, workshops, and performance art events in South Korea, together with his partner Kim Giyoung and other collaborators. Co-founder of Studio Binjari, Busan.
