Nelly Paubel

About

Nelly Paubel is a composite (choreographic) artist who combines attentional work with the investment of non-dedicated places — shared, public, private, or intimate spaces — with the intention of revealing what is constantly being woven and transformed within our everyday gestures, letting the poetry of the ordinary emerge. At the crossroads of several fields of movement exploration, she works across improvisation (Contact Improvisation, Systema, instant composition), with a particular interest in territories, their folds, interstices, flows, architectures, and relational modes. Questioning the place of a body within an environment, she specifically investigates the edges of practices, studying spaces of entanglement and negotiation where diverse and divergent intentions play out. She performs for street arts companies and, in parallel, creates protean site-specific choreographic works with amateur dancers, within the Collectif Kidam Ridiim and through ephemeral collaborations. Holding a French State diploma in contemporary dance (2009), she works in cultural outreach in schools and nursing homes, committed to teaching in a spirit of exchange and sharing while continuing to learn from her own practices.
