Angela-Mara Florant

Angela-Mara Florant had her first experience with Contact Improvisation during her performance arts studies in Besançon, France. In 2005 she moved to Hamburg, where she teaches several regular contact classes, gives workshops, and organises jams and festivals including the NORDTANZ Festival. Since 2015 she has been co-director of the dance studio Triade in Hamburg. She studied with Nancy Stark Smith and multiple other CI pioneers, and co-facilitates Keep Material Alive at Spazio il Mulino, a research intensive honouring Nancy Stark Smith's legacy. Beyond Contact Improvisation, she teaches Pilates, directs independent theater productions, choreographs dance pieces (mostly based on CI), and teaches theater and dance to children.
