East Coast Jam

About the community

The East Coast jam is a multi-day gathering to explore Contact Improvisation. It's been happening twice yearly since 1987 at Claymont Court Seminars and Retreat Center in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains outside of Charles Town, West Virginia, around one and a half hour's car ride from the center of Washington, DC, USA. This jam-focused event includes participant-facilitated warm-ups and CI-related activities, open jamming, and an evening of performance. There is a beautiful octagonal barn with a large dance floor and a smaller space for dancing and activities in the mansion, shared lodging, luscious vegetarian meals, a wood-fired sauna and spring, wide vistas, and lots of beautiful spaces to explore. We can accommodate up to 50 participants at each jam.
