Serge Gubelman (Manna Presence) is a multidisciplinary artist who studied acting and mime with Etienne Decroux, plus acrobatics and percussion, in Paris. He joined La MaMa in London in 1970, was invited to New York by Ellen Stewart in 1974, and danced with Robert Wilson in 1974/75. He has built unique musical instruments for Broadway productions, composed for Yale Repertory Theatre, and performed music with dancer Min Tanaka. He now offers acoustic and electronic improvised soundscapes for dance and Contact Improvisation events under the name Manna Presence.
