Ricardo Neves

Ricardo Neves is a director, organizer, teacher, dancer, and actor deeply involved in Contact Improvisation. He has been practicing the form for 26 years and directs NIC (Núcleo Improvisação em Contato) in São Paulo. His training includes 10 years of study with Tica Lemos (a precursor of Contact Improvisation in Brazil), as well as work with pioneering figures Steve Paxton and Nancy Stark Smith, among others. He has practiced Aikido since 2006, holding a black belt (1st dan). Neves organizes the International Contact Improvisation Encounters in São Paulo (14th edition) and in Ilhabela (10th edition), and has taught at institutions including São Paulo Escola de Dança and Centro Cultural São Paulo, currently offering weekly classes at Ágata-SP and Centro Cultural Olido. His work with NIC has received multiple grants, including Proac funding for dance circulation and promotion programs.
