About this event

A 5-day Contact Improvisation retreat on private land in the San Juan Islands, Washington — one of the Pacific Northwest's most beautiful island settings, with ocean views, mountain lakes, hiking trails, and lush gardens. Teacher: Scott Wells — practicing CI since 1981, MFA in Dance, director of Scott Wells & Dancers (San Francisco). Two-time Izzie Award winner for Outstanding Choreography; Dance Magazine '25 To Watch'. His style emphasises freedom of movement, flying, fluid acrobatics, safety, precision, and pleasure. Programme: • Skills classes and open jams • Contemplative Dance Practice • Community activities and evening socialising Setting: • Beautiful dance space with ocean views • Camping on lush private land • Lunch and dinner catered daily • Hot tub, sauna, cold plunge spa area • Swimming in pristine mountain lakes • Organic gardens and orchard Open to CI dancers of all levels.
