About
Mathilde Mensink is a dancer, singer and Contact Improvisation practitioner based in Copenhagen, after some years based in Berlin. She holds a BA in Contemporary Dance Practices from the Iceland University of the Arts and has also studied at Tanzfabrik Berlin. She first encountered Contact Improvisation in Copenhagen in 2013 and has returned to it since as a source of nourishment, play, community and curious exploration, training over the years with teachers including Dorte Bjerre, Juli Gábor, Matan Levkovich, Thomas Kampe, Noam Carmeli, Ivona Olszowska, Nita Little, Vega Luukkonen and Hugh Stanier. Her work is informed by contemporary dance, somatic practices and music, with an ongoing interest in sustainable practices that integrate technical precision with nervous system awareness, playfulness and creative expression. She enjoys holding space for deep immersions, the unknown, and the quirky, playful, wild and tender aspects of embodied experience, and has taught Contact Improvisation in Copenhagen and Berlin, alongside teaching and facilitating movement, music and somatic practices for both children and adults.
