About

José Tomás Olavarría is a facilitator with a unique background that integrates over 30 years of body-based artistry as a dancer and choreographer with his expertise as a Chinese Medicine therapist and Qi Gong instructor. His approach fuses movement expression, holistic therapy, and somatic pedagogy to guide wellness processes. Choreographer, performer, and educator, he has dedicated more than three decades to contemporary dance in Latin America and Europe. He holds a degree in Dance Pedagogy from the National Center of Dance (Paris, 2006) and was a permanent member of the Centre Chorégraphique National de Nantes, touring four continents under the direction of Claude Brumachon. In Chile, he has created pieces such as Sumatoria (Santiago a Mil 2011) and Arrecife (2017), and has performed works by Carolina Cifras, Elías Cohen, and Rodrigo Pérez, among others. He has taught contemporary technique, improvisation, and choreographic composition at the University of Chile, UDLA, ARCIS, and other institutions.
