Jose Esteban is a Costa Rican musician, composer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Valencia. His work centers on creating live soundscapes in real time, with deep listening to movement, space, and the relationship between bodies. He has practiced Contact Improvisation for over 10 years, integrating this somatic experience into his understanding of music as a living dialogue within dance. His playing accompanies, sustains, and proposes, centering listening, presence, and care for shared space. He has accompanied dance processes in immersions, marathons, and gatherings in both Costa Rica and Spain, including at the Asturias Contact Festival. His work is also shaped by his background as a singer-songwriter and an artistic sensitivity deeply connected to the collective.
