About this event

Silent Conversations is a two-week nomadic residency led by Sasha Dodo and Dolores Dewhurst-Marks in Ortahisar, Cappadocia (1–14 October 2026). Part of the Art Continuum Nomadic Residency programme, the gathering combines Contact Improvisation, contemplative movement, site-specific performance, and poetry practice in the extraordinary geological landscape of Cappadocia. Participants stay in the guest house of Mesud and his family in the ancient rock town of Ortahisar — rooms sleep 2–4 with ensuite bathrooms; shared spaces include a fireplace room, kitchen, and terrace with valley views of the surrounding valleys. Ortahisar dates back to the Bronze Age and centres on a dramatic ancient rock castle. The residency is structured around full-day immersions weaving CI technique, somatic awareness, poetic inquiry, and collective artistic creation into the surrounding landscape of rock formations, valleys, and cave spaces. Silent Conversations is one of the long-duration study programmes Sasha Dodo and Dolores Dewhurst-Marks co-teach under the Towards curriculum — conceived as a Poetry and Performance Laboratory. Their approach draws on the lineages of Steve Paxton, Nancy Stark Smith, Anna Halprin, and Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. This residency is open to practitioners who have attended previous Towards or Art Continuum programmes. Group size is limited to 18. Price (including food and accommodation for 13 nights) is on a sliding scale: €1,500 regular (10 places), €1,300 low income (4 places), €1,100 no income (4 places).
