UK Contact Improvisation Teachers Exchange 2026

About this event

UKCITE 2026 — "Welcome to CI in the Big Sky." An annual gathering of UK-based teachers and practitioners of Contact Improvisation to share practice, modelled on the larger CITE (US) and ECITE (Europe) teacher exchanges and rotating to a different venue around the country each year. This year in the beautiful rural setting of Alnmouth, Northumberland, immersed in nature walks, talks, labs, and teaching exchange both inside and outside, with access to an indoor studio for sessions — a nourishing weekend with a retreat feeling, soaking in the elemental nature of Northumberland. Alnmouth is on the east coast mainline and easily accessible by train. Blends studio and beach labs, small buddy groups, whole-group feedback sessions, evening jams and beach fires, and daily "provocations" from guest facilitators, closing with an integration lab and closing circle. Organized by the UKCITE team: Beth Loughran-Layton, Caroline Waters, Emma Hardman, Tamara Ashley, and Tracey West. Open to UK-based CI teachers and practitioners rather than the general public.
