Ruslan Baranov

Ruslan Baranov is a dancer, choreographer, and contemporary dance instructor from Ukraine, teaching at the National University of Culture and Art. He specializes in Contact Improvisation, which he describes as being about really enjoying the process of dance and finding harmony with one's environment. Together with his wife, Maryna Baranova, he offers Contact Improvisation classes for both dancers and non-dancers throughout their city, organizes festivals, and performs publicly to make the form accessible to wider audiences — including at the KarpatSKI festival of Contact Improvisation and performance in the Carpathian mountains, Ukraine. His recent work explores the experience of isolation and finding dialogue through movement when words fail.
