Ray Chung is a dancer and improvisation specialist with extensive experience in Contact Improvisation (CI) since 1979. He integrates multiple movement disciplines into his practice, including martial arts, bodywork, and Authentic Movement. His professional development involved collaboration with prominent CI figures such as Chris Aiken, Martin Keogh, Lisa Nelson, Nancy Stark Smith, Karen Nelson, and others. Additionally, he trained in shiatsu therapy under respected instructors and earned an engineering degree from UC Berkeley. Chung's work has been presented at numerous festivals and venues internationally. His teaching and research approach emphasizes learning through direct experience and practice, influenced by his mentorship relationship with Contact Improvisation founder Steve Paxton, whom he met in the 1980s at Breitenbush Hot Springs and collaborated with on several notable projects spanning multiple decades.
