Maryna Baranova is a Ukrainian Contact Improvisation dancer and teacher who, together with her husband Ruslan Baranov, offers Contact Improvisation classes for dancers and non-dancers, organizes festivals, and performs publicly — including at the KarpatSKI festival of Contact Improvisation and performance in the Carpathian mountains, Ukraine, and workshops in locations including Petrozavodsk, Russia. Their recent duet work explores the experience of isolation, navigating proximity and attention with a partner, finding through movement the dialogue that words cannot reach.
