Lalaina Ravelojaona

Lalaina Ravelojaona is a French-Malagasy musician based in Montréal since 2020. After working as an interpreter, composer, and teacher across a wide range of communities — from film and live performance to collaboration with choreographers — she turned her attention to the music of her ancestral lineage, seeking a bridge between the often hegemonic conventions of Western music and global diasporic ways of practice. As a musician-dancer, she explores deep listening as a way to tune in to environment and body, using small repetitive motifs and waves of improvisation as the tools of the journey.
