About
Alice Dutreuil-Nouchimowitz learned all kinds of dance from a young age, from classical to rock, including tap, jazz, Afro-contemporary, and traditional forms, making her a hybrid and plural dancer. She went on to study contemporary dance at the Perpignan regional conservatory and was part of a movement-sound improvisation laboratory. In 2013 she discovered Contact Improvisation and Body-Mind Centering, practices that led her to travel and meet dancers from around the world. She studied in particular with Nancy Stark Smith, Karen Nelson, and Nita Little. For about ten years, these approaches to the body have offered her main axes of experimentation and research around solo and collective improvisation. She approaches dance as an art of presence and incarnation, describing it as a relational and expressive passage with the living, and movement as the very basis of life and the origin of all forms of creation.
