JAMAZO ITALIA is back with the FIFTH edition — four days dedicated to the practice and celebration of Contact Improvisation. The heart of the event is a daily jam that runs for hours, framed by a shared opening and closing circle. Between jam sessions there's time to enjoy Genova's natural surroundings — the beach, the mountains, and the surrounding park — and, on Saturday, a communal buffet. Jamazo was initiated by Autarco Arfini in Rosario, Argentina; the Jamazo Italia team brought the format to Genova in 2022. The event is open to all levels of experience, and supports many ways of being with the long jam — dancing, watching, resting, writing, drawing, reading, sleeping. The dance space is a sports hall inside the Nervi public park (Parchi di Nervi), so passers-by may occasionally look in or enter to watch — this has always been done with respect and has not created interference.
