About this event

The Corfu Land & Water CI Festival brings together an international community for a week of Contact Improvisation on land and in the water, held at the Gayatri Mandir in Arillas on the northwest coast of Corfu (August 27 – September 2, 2026). The Mandir is perched on a hill among ancient olive groves with sea views and a 400 sq m dance floor, minutes from the beach. Lunch is provided during festival days; accommodation is self-arranged in the village. The 2026 programme runs parallel land and water intensives. On land: Anjelika Doniy (RU) offers 'Elastic Attention,' a lab moving from beginner foundations through jam technique and advanced sensitivity; Zuzanna Bukowski (DE/PL) explores Axis Syllabus principles applied to CI — landing pads, tensegrity, biodynamics; Ido Maron (ISR) teaches weight-sharing and the transition from stability to flow; Bastien Auber (FR) works with balancing centres — centre of mass, anatomical centre, and centre of perception — as a vocabulary for fundamental CI principles. Additional classes by Ayelet Yekutiel (PL), Fran Carocci (IT), and Marina Sans (PT). Katya Podoprigora (RU/HU) leads an Authentic Movement lab and a hands-on bodywork awareness session. On the water: Manuela Blanchard (CH) leads an intermediate/advanced subaquatic CI intensive ('Flying Fishes') exploring spirals, suspended lifts, and fluid partner dances beneath the surface. Elisabeth Andrio (GR/DE), creator of the Flying Pool Project in Corfu, offers an open-level somatic water dancing intensive rooted in sensation and nervous system awareness. Žan Perko (SVN) leads an intermediate intensive drawing on early developmental movement patterns and sensory-motor feedback as a basis for dancing with water. Optional pre-festival workshops (Aug 24–26): Feldenkrais & CI with Thomas Kampe (UK/GER), and CI in Water with Manuela Blanchard — each priced separately. Post-festival workshop (Sep 3–5): CI in Nature with Bastien Auber. Contact: corfucontactfestival@gmail.com
