Roman Singh has taught Contact Improvisation in Russia and abroad for about 12 years, working professionally as a CI teacher and organizer — over the past 5 years he has organized and run more than 40 events. Trained originally as an engineer, he brings a love of concrete detail to his teaching; he is also a psychologist who worked professionally in communication training, and a practitioner and master of NLP, with hypnotherapy still part of his current practice. His interest in the body began with an interest in altered states of consciousness — he led holotropic breathwork groups for six years, later developing this into a training on the theme of "death" for dancers. He came to movement relatively late, close to age 30, with no dance background, and only at that age was able to overcome the beliefs holding him back and recognize how important movement was to him. Over 10 years of practice he developed a movement-teaching methodology he calls "spherokinesis," originally born from the question of how to teach Contact Improvisation effectively. He organizes festivals large and small, has studied with many respected CI teachers, and today teaches not only Contact Improvisation practitioners but also dancers and choreographers, alongside some parkour and acrobatics.
