Miguel García López

About

Known professionally as Miguel Horacio, he graduated from the Rambert School of Ballet & Contemporary Dance in London, holds a certificate from the London Studio Centre, and a diploma in contemporary dance from the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza de Valencia. He was a member of the Batsheva Excellence Programme in Tel Aviv (2014-2015). Internationally, in the UK he has worked for choreographers including Bawren Tavaziva (Tavaziva Dance), Robert Cohan (founder of The Place and the London Contemporary Dance Theatre), Renaud Wiser (Fertile Ground), and Amanda Britton (Rambert School). He has worked for Kolben Dance Company in Jerusalem under Amir Kolben, and with Rachel Erdos on a new creation. In Valencia he has worked with choreographers Toni Aparisi (Mody Dick) and Alicia Herrero (Los Cascanueces). He has completed numerous intensives including the Gaga Summer Intensive in Tel Aviv (2014, Ohad Naharin/Shahar Binyamini), "Improvisation on Stage" with David Zambrano and "From Gravity to Lightness" with Lali Ayguadé in Brussels, and Hasadna - The Dance Workshop with choreographers including Sharon Eyal. Within Contact Improvisation, he has attended the Contact Festival Freiburg in Germany (with Andrew Harwood and Isabelle Uski), the 1st Contact Camp Andalucía with Félix Arjona, the intensive "Las tres esferas: Técnica y Somática del Contact Improvisation" with Sergio Palomares, and is currently in Ramón Roig's FOCUS CI training in Valencia. As a teacher he has taught at some of the most recognized schools in the Comunidad Valenciana, including Estudio de Danza María Carbonell, Escola de Dansa Elena Lerma, and CPMD Calasancio, where he currently teaches contemporary dance. He created the contemporary dance teaching methodology Danza Dinámica, approaching contemporary dance from a global, integrative perspective through 8 continuously developing dynamics. In 2022 he founded #espaidecontact, a platform for spreading Contact Improvisation across the Comunidad Valenciana and beyond, which has hosted guest teachers including Ramón Roig and Natalyd Altamirano, and musicians Rafa Navarro and José Esteban Esquivel. He holds a law degree from the Universitat de València, graduating within the High Academic Performance group.
