About
A founding figure of Contact Improvisation in the UK. Former competitive gymnast (GB Olympic team, 1968) and Ballet Rambert dancer from 1969, she encountered CI through Steve Paxton in the mid-1970s. Co-founded X6 Dance Space (1976) and Chisenhale Dance Space (1981), both pivotal venues for the New Dance movement in Britain. Long-time teacher at LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, 1995–2008) and co-founder of the Liverpool Improvisation Collective (2008). Based in Liverpool, she continues to teach and perform internationally.
