About
Itahisa Borges Méndez is a Tenerife-born artist and facilitator. She holds a degree in Spanish language and literature and a Master's in live performance arts, and spent six years with the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards, an international physical theatre company. Her professional background spans over 15 years of physical expression, psychophysical training, dance, and somatic practice. She founded her own theatre company, Sinécdoque Escena, producing works including "In Praesentia" and "Medea, una mujer no contada". She teaches at UNIR and various Madrid art schools, and facilitates creative workshops and somatic liberation processes for migrant women through organizations including CEAR. Since 2022 she has returned to Tenerife, running Cuerpo Escuela, a Contact Improvisation and body-training practice space.
