Hanano Teshirogi

About

Dancer, contact improviser, actor, and teacher; majored in dance at The Japan Women's College of Physical Education. Co-founded CI-bu, a CI-rooted dance company, with Miki Hoei in 2008. Member of CIco from 2008 to 2011, performing, teaching, organizing festivals, and contributing to CI community development across Japan and internationally; also a supporting artist at i-Dance Japan. Has worked with choreographers/directors including Hideki Noda, John Caird, and Iñaki Azpillaga. Played Bo-Mouse and was puppet captain for the UK production of Spirited Away. Developed community dance initiatives inspired by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake in her hometown of Matsushima. Currently teaches physical expression at the drama department of Tokyo Metropolitan Senior High School of the Arts.
