Barbara Stahlberger
About
Barbara Stahlberger has trained as a geriatric nursing assistant and digital & print media designer, and is a dancer and dance & movement teacher. She arrived at her true profession through this varied background and has been teaching dance and movement since 1997. Coming through many different dance forms such as modern dance and show dance, she found her way to New Dance, and discovered Contact Improvisation around 1993. Since then she has regularly attended jams and workshops, studying with teachers including Ray Chung, Martin Keogh, Keriac, Scott Wells, Julyen Hamilton, Lisa Nelson, Nita Little, Daniel Lepkoff, and Nancy Stark Smith, among many others, building a rich teaching repertoire. Attending Contact Improvisation teacher gatherings has also been an important ongoing exchange around the form. In 2000 she initiated the Contact Festival Freiburg, held annually. She also teaches a part-time continuing-education program in New Dance in Freiburg, as well as Movement Ritual according to Anna Halprin and Pilates.
