About this event
The Nordic Impro Meeting (NIM) is a self-organised Contact Improvisation gathering that has brought together CI dancers from Scandinavia and beyond since 1996. This is the 30th anniversary edition, hosted at Lillsveds Folkhögskola on Värmdö island in the Stockholm archipelago (August 22–26, 2026). NIM is a co-created space: there are no paid teachers. Participants propose and offer the content — classes, labs, jams, site-specific work, and more — and collectively build the schedule. The aim is to share research and practice, strengthen the Nordic CI community, and deepen exchanges around Contact Improvisation. Dancers from all over the world are welcome. The first NIM took place in autumn 1996 at Årsta Theater with 12 people. Since then the gathering has travelled across all the Scandinavian countries (except Iceland), rotating hosts each year. Lillsveds Folkhögskola sits beautifully by the sea with forest and cliffs, one hour from Stockholm by public transport. The main dance hall has a wooden floor, high ceiling, and views towards the bay. Accommodation is in single or double rooms. Price covers food, accommodation, sauna, and studio use — and allows the organising team to attend for free. Any surplus goes towards musicians and celebration extras for the 30th anniversary.
