Dance Ranch Marfa 2026: Ensemble Thinking™ ReWire Dancing States

About this event

Marfa Live Arts presents Ensemble Thinking™ / Contact Improvisation / ReWire Dancing States, a performance lab facilitated by Nina Martin, Margaret Paek and Andrew Wass at Dance Ranch Marfa. This performance lab is a rigorous investigation of the relationship between the self and the group in an art-making context, providing dedicated space for collective and individual learning and exploration. Using Ensemble Thinking™, ReWire Movement States, and Contact Improvisation as points of departure, participants investigate the intra-relationships of the solo body, the weighted body, and the ensemble. Days consist of two studio blocks (morning and afternoon), widening compositional, sensorial and performance skills. The lab ends with a public performance. Schedule (subject to change): Morning sessions 10:00-12:30, lunch 12:30-14:00, afternoon sessions 14:00-17:00. Free pilates mat class Tue/Wed/Thu mornings 9:00-9:50, open to the public. Public performances: Wed Aug 5 and Fri Aug 7, both at 18:00. Participant numbers are limited; pre-registration required.
