About this event
The 19th annual Contact Improvisation in Hualien workshop (接觸即興在花蓮), organised by 古舞團 (Ancient Dance Group / Gu Dance Ensemble), which has been bringing CI to eastern Taiwan each year since 2008. The 2026 edition is a special two-teacher intensive featuring Noam Carmeli (Executive Director of the Israeli CI Association) and Gu Ming-Shen (Artistic Director of 古舞團), combining international and local perspectives to deepen body awareness, CI technique, and cross-cultural movement dialogue. Two parallel tracks — each 4 days, 09:30–17:00: • Beginner class (初級班): 9–12 July • Advanced class (進階班): 14–17 July Venue: Building 16 (Boiler Room / 鍋爐室), Hualien Cultural Creative Industries Park, No. 144 Zhonghua Road, Hualien City. Fees: NT$8,000 (regular) / NT$7,000 (student) per class; Hualien resident discount available.

Beginner Class (初級班)
Jul 9 - Jul 12, 20264-day beginner track, 09:30–17:00. Open to those new to CI or wishing to deepen foundational skills.
Advanced Class (進階班)
Jul 14 - Jul 17, 20264-day advanced track, 09:30–17:00. For experienced practitioners looking to refine technique and deepen somatic awareness.
